Valentine’s Dinner and Brunch Offered at Brookfield Zoo
Show your animal magnetism this Valentine’s Day and treat your significant other to an adventurous evening of dining and dancing at Brookfield Zoo on Friday, February 14.
The romantic evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Seven Seas Underwater Viewing Gallery, where you will be able to view the bottlenose dolphins. A keeper will be on hand to answer any questions.
Afterwards, board the cozy heated Snowball Express for a short ride to Bocaditos restaurant, where the zoo’s executive chef will have a sumptuous meal waiting to be served. Dinner begins with creamy lobster bisque with shrimp soup and a salad of assorted baby greens served with fresh Bosc pear slices, candied pecans, and crumbled bleu cheese drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette. An intermezzo of lemon sorbet precedes the main course of lobster tail and petite filet mignon with wild mushroom ragout in a port demi glaze and fresh vegetables. You will surely want to save room for the chef’s Valentine’s dessert: chocolate Marjolaine, an exquisite composition of chocolate meringue, white chocolate mousse, ganache, and chocolate shavings. Dinner, which includes wine and champagne with dinner and open bar services, is $225 per couple.
If you would rather treat your sweetie or the entire family to a daytime Valentine’s adventure, head to Brookfield Zoo on Sunday, February 16, for a champagne brunch in Discovery Center. Afterwards, walk around the zoo to see everyone’s favorite animals.
The 11:00 a.m. brunch features an elegant display of breakfast fare, including Danishes, bagels, and muffins served with assorted jams, butter, and cream cheese; eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce; fluffy buttermilk pancakes; crispy bacon and sausage links; and hash browns. The extravagant buffet also will include homemade butternut squash soup; a variety of salads and roasted vegetables; chilled peel-and-eat shrimp; smoked salmon; herb-roasted free-range chicken; grilled lamb kabobs; homemade crab cakes with Creole sauce; a made-to-order omelet station with a variety of accompaniments; round of beef with port wine sauce; and salmon in puff pastry with lingonberry sauce. The meal concludes with a decadent sweets table with a chocolate fountain for dipping strawberries and other fresh fruit; assorted pastries and cakes; marshmallow treats; and more. The brunch, which includes admission to the zoo, is $55 per adult and $35 per child ages 3 to 11 (zoo members pay $45 per adult and $35 per child). Children 2 and under eat for free.
