Join the Zoo Corps!
YVC Applications Available!
Do you know any youth who are interested in a volunteer opportunity at Brookfield Zoo? The Chicago Zoological Society is now accepting applications
for the Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC).
This unique conservation leadership program was created for high school students to learn more about the animals and exhibits at the Zoo while at the same time educating guests. Youth earn valuable career training experience in a fun, social environment.
All students begin in the Interpretive Track which requires a two day per week commitment to the Zoo during summer months. Aside from interpretation on zoo grounds, youth also participate in environmental stewardship experiences, assist with special events and interact with other teens on field trips. After experience in the program, there are opportunities for more focused conservation and scientific research. (There is no animal contact.)
Students must be entering 9th-12th grades in Fall 2010 and be 14-17 years old on August 31, 2010 in order to participate. For complete details and to download an application, please visit: Youth Volunteer Corp
. Applications are due April 13, 2010. Be sure to check out the YVC FAQ page for specific program details!
