Bald Eagle at Brookfield Zoo

Ever wonder what it’s like to experience the world from a bald eagle’s perspective?  See for yourself by standing in the treetops at the bald eagle aviary. Here you’ll be just as tall as the eagles’ treetop perch. Observe closely and you might even spot a raven or two. Let your imagination soar in the new Great Bear Wilderness!

The story of the symbol of our country has become famous. By the 1960s, bald eagles were in serious trouble and there was a good chance that they could become extinct. After DDT was found to be the culprit, the pesticide was banned and bald eagles began the slow road to recovery. By 1995 populations had increased enough to remove bald eagles from the Endangered Species List.
