Animals at Brookfield Zoo Enjoy Valentine’s Day Treats

Brookfield, IL—Some of the animals at Brookfield Zoo received some heart-shaped treats for Valentine’s Day. The bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, harbor seals, and grey seals seemed to enjoy heart-shaped ice and gelatin treats. And, the western lowland gorillas got some nutritious heart-shaped cookies made of ground primate biscuit, oatmeal, bananas, raisins, and peanut butter.

The Animal Programs staff is always thinking of ways to physically and mentally stimulate the animals at Brookfield Zoo. One way is by providing them with a variety of different enrichment and food items they normally do not receive on a regular basis.
