FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Animals at Brookfield Zoo Enjoy a Halloween Treat
Brookfield, IL—Today, some animals at Brookfield Zoo were treated to some Halloween treats—pumpkins. The western lowland gorillas, African wild dogs, hippopotamus, sloth bears, and meerkats seemed to thoroughly enjoy their treats, whether they were eating them or just playing with them. The Animal Programs staff is constantly providing a variety of items to the animals as part of the zoo’s behavioral enrichment program. The zoo-wide program encourages natural behavior of zoo animals by physically and mentally stimulating them through enrichment.
This weekend, zoo guests can see the lions and bears receiving pumpkins during the annual Boo! at the Zoo celebration on October 29 and 30.
