Chicago Zoological Society Announces 2011 Photo Contest Winners
Brookfield, IL—Nearly 400 images, including everything from snakes, lizards, and butterflies to lions, birds, and giraffes were submitted for the Chicago Zoological Society’s 2011 Photo contest. A panel of professional photographers judged the photos, from which they selected a grand prize winner and first-, second-, and third-place winners in adult and child (11 and under) categories. The winning photos are on display in Brookfield Zoo’s Discovery Center lobby. They may also be viewed online at
www.CZS.org/PhotoContest.
Frank Norton of Brookfield won the grand prize with his photo of Isis and Zenda, Brookfield Zoo’s two African lions. He received round-trip main cabin air transportation for himself and a companion to any destination served directly by American Airlines or American Eagle within the Continental US48, courtesy of American Airlines.
Winners in the adult category are Sue Lindell of Des Plaines, first place; Lynn Larson of South Elgin, second place; and Janet Anagnos of Bedford Park, third place. Patti Hartung of Peotone and Lisa Tyler of Mokena received honorable mentions.
Winners in the 11-and-under child category are Connor Orr of Bolingbrook, first place; David Castellucci of Crest Hill, second place; and Kristin Beener of Burr Ridge, third place. Gracie Withner of Plainfield received an honorable mention.
The Photo Contest was sponsored by American Airlines and Fisher-Price®. Photos were matted courtesy of House of Color in Countryside.
