Application Deadline

For all applicants [U.S. Citizens or International]:  February 28

Applications will be accepted at any time; however applicants who apply after February 28, if accepted, may need to wait until the following year to begin their program of study.

Degree Requirements

AIP Master’s students earn 21 credit hours Brookfield Zoo, plus 14 credit hours with other AIP Master’s students nationwide in web-based learning communities. All 35 hours have a web component and online Master’s portfolio. Students may apply to take up to seven credit hours from an Earth Expeditions global field course to count toward their degree. Students taking AIP courses part-time typically complete the degree in 2.5 years. Students admitted to the program who have not completed at least one university-level life science course or its equivalent will need to complete one of several options (determined by a AIP committee) for basic biology content as part of the Master's degree program.

Which degree is for me?

Apply to the MAT if you fall in any of the following categories: 1) you are certified to teach, 2) you have an academic degree in education or education related field (i.e., bachelor's or master's), or 3) you have taught or teach in a K-12 school.

The MA is a degree option for any applicant with a bachelor's interested in advancing their career through global leadership, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

Note: The MAT program does not confer a teaching license or certificate. Applicants with no education background should apply for the MA, not the MAT degree.
