Habitat Africa Internship
Zoo visitors experience two African habitats in this indoor/outdoor exhibit. A variety of animals share habitats that convey life on the open plains. Plated lizards, milky eagle owls, African wild dogs, and reticulated giraffes are among the many animals found here.
Through their close work with keepers and their understanding of suggested reading materials, interns receive practical experience in keeper duties and learn many aspects of captive animal management.
Interns are exposed to diet preparation, exhibit maintenance, record-keeping, animal training, and animal observations.
As part of their Habitat Africa! experience, interns are required to do a short research project relating to any aspect of animal husbandry they choose.
