Polar Bear - Hope

Hope arrived at the Zoo in January 2021 and quickly acclimated to her new home in the Great Bear Wilderness. Hope is very playful and creative with her enrichment. She loves doing "CPR" on 55-gallon barrels and trying to shove small balls inside of other enrichment items. Currently, polar bears are classified as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They are primarily threatened by reduced access to seals, their main food source, due to climate change and the melting of sea ice.
