Sloth Bear - Lila

Lila arrived at Brookfield Zoo Chicago in 2024 based on a recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Sloth Bear Species Survival Plan (SSP), to be paired with Kartik, a male sloth bear. Contrary to their name, sloth bears are actually an active bunch and not slow-moving. By using their great sense of smell, sloth bears stay busy all day looking for bugs, and are often more active during dawn and dusk. They also feed on termites, fruit, honey, and plants.
