Native to the island of Madgascar, the Madgascar Hissing Cockroach is one of the largest cockroach species, reaching between two and four inches at maturity. The insect does not have wings and thus cannot fly, transporting itself through walking and climbing. The insect's characteristic hissing sound is used as a defense against predators.
