  • Illinois School Groups
    Illinois students on a field trip are free every day. With your school reservation, all adult supervisors are also free.

  • Illinois Pre-K Groups
    Preschool groups located in a state-approved elementary school buildings are free with a reserved field trip.

  • Illinois HeadStart Groups
    Illinois HeadStart groups on a reserved field trip are admitted into the zoo for free.

  • FREE Days
    Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from January 1 through February 28 are FREE days at the zoo. Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 1 through December 31 are also FREE days for zoo general admission. (Note: While admission is free on these days, normal internal attraction fees still apply--this includes the dolphin show.)

  • Non-reserved Illinois school groups will be charged regular zoo admission for each adult supervisor.

Illinois School Group Field Trip Reservations

Registration for Illinois School Groups Only
All self-guided field trip registrations will be taken through our online process. We will help walk you through the registration process below. Please note:
  • Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance for Spring (April-June) trips and two weeks in advance for other seasons.
  • Bring payment for parking; $15.00/bus, $10.00/car or van on the day of your trip.
  • Field trip times must be during Zoo hours; no early admissions or late stays allowed unless authorized by the Conservation, Education and Training department.
  • After you have completed your online reservation, YOU MUST print all of your confirmation and contract information, as this will be your only notification that you are registered.
  • Please have a copy of your confirmation and contract for EACH vehicle.
Confirmation and Your Contract
Your field-trip confirmation, zoo maps, and a contract for a school group visit will be delivered via email at the conclusion of the online reservation process. The contract establishes an agreement to the terms of your visit between the zoo and your school. Read it carefully, sign it, and bring it with the reservation confirmation on the day of your visit. Please have a copy for each vehicle.

Adult Supervisors (PreK to College)
School groups visiting the zoo MUST have proper adult supervision in a ratio of at least one adult for every 10 students. Adult chaperones are required to accompany each group of students.

Medical Release Form
Teachers and group supervisors are advised to carry emergency contact numbers and signed medical waiver for each child under 18 years old, allowing the teacher to give permission for medical treatment. For an example of a medical release form, click here.

Food
Please note, there is no food storage and outside caterers are not permitted at Brookfield Zoo.
