RESEARCH INQUIRIES

The ZARD is designed to function as a reference tool for veterinary professionals performing diagnostic imaging on zoological species. Non-veterinary professionals such as educators may log into the ZARD to use images within the database as a visual aid during lectures, but the images may not be downloaded or reproduced for a presentation, outline, exam question, etc., as stated in the End User Licensing Agreement. Students and/or the audience should be explicitly told that they are not allowed to photograph or record the images being displayed.

Veterinary and non-veterinary researchers should limit their use of the ZARD to reference only. If a diagnostic imaging study is utilized as a reference within a research study, the ZARD should be cited within the bibliography according to the applicable citation format.

If you have any questions regarding proper utilization of the ZARD or how to cite the ZARD, please email zard@brookfieldzoo.org.

Research and Data Collection

Utilizing the information contained within the ZARD for data collection requires pre-approval by the leadership team. All ZARD users, veterinary and non-veterinary, must submit the research proposal form prior to utilizing the database for data collection. We are not currently accepting research proposals (updated November 20, 2024). We will update the website and notify our users via email when the process is available.
